Spring Am-Am pays for New Hole Cutter for Greenkeepers

Many of our members may have been wondering what the money from the Spring Open Am-Am fundraiser went towards, as we haven’t made any announcements yet.

The reason is we have been passing some ideas around the Competition Committee with regards to how best spend the money and get the most benefits on the golf course. In the past we have spent the money on bins, benches, ball washers and bunker rakes, but we agreed at the last meeting that nothing in regards to course furniture really jumps out as needing renewing at the moment, and that priorities lie elsewhere.

With that in mind a suggestion was made about a new hole cutter for the greenkeepers, since the main issue we have on the golf course right now with the bunkers and greens having vastly improved is that we are having inconsistencies with the old holes when we are changing pin placements.

This week we had a demonstration of a top of the range piece of equipment called the iPro by BMS, which is used by the best courses on tour, but is at the same time very expensive at around £1,000.

That’s why the committee voted in favour of putting the £720 raised from the Spring Am-Am towards this new hole cutter, and that members will see the instant benefit which will keep the holes consistent for years to come.

Brand new Ping G410 range launched

Today Ping have launched their brand new G410 range which replaces the outgoing G400. The new G410 range features the Ping G410 Plus, Ping’s first ever driver to feature moveable weight, specifically a 16g tungsten weight that can be relocated at the back of the clubhead to add 10 yards of draw or fade bias while maintaining forgiveness.

In 2019 Burstwick have now strived to become advanced Ping Fitters, with demo clubs in the range including drivers, fairways, hybrids and irons, so you can book in for a free custom fit session with our PGA Professional Matt Daley for the full range of G410 clubs!

Where to take the Burstwick Pro Shop in 2017

Callaway Golf

Since the announcement of Nike removing hardware from their product line from 2017 we’ve been contemplating what direction to take our pro shop next. With many things to consider, the first thing we did was put out an online survey to the members at Burstwick.

I had in my head an idea of what I thought the results would be, but there were actually a couple of surprises in there. Overall I wasn’t too far from the mark, but it just goes to show what a bit of market research will do for you.

Golf apparel

Introducing the next club manufacturer to be stocked at Burstwick: Callaway. Callaway was the leader of the hardware section of the survey and I’ve always like the idea of stocking Callaway (although never had the space until now) so this was a perfect fit.

I am meeting with the sales representitive in the next fortnight to have a look at the Callaway and Odyssey range, but I can’t put a date on when the first equipment will arrive yet, but I know I’m very excited, so watch this space!

The other two sections of the shop which we have yet to make a decision on yet are footwear and apparel.

As Nike Golf are still continuing with their footwear and apparel lines it makes the decision more difficult than the hardware as I like to try and stay loyal to my suppliers. However, I am seeing this whole situation as an opportunity for the club to maximise potential for the shop and also stock what our members would like to see. Going back to the survey that I put out, a few thoughts have been put in my mind about where to go, but I have decided not to make a decision just yet as we’re looking at spring/summer 2017. We are looking forward to meeting a few sales reps and gathering some more information before making a move.

New Nike and PING Equipment Now In Stock!

We've been very busy in the shop recently as we've been taking in lots of new stock for the 2016 season (and there's still more to come!). The two main things we're currently raving about are the new Nike Vapor Fly and PING G Series equipment ranges, which are already selling like hot cakes!

Nike Vapor Fly

Nike's new range has been well documented on TV by the likes of Rory McIlroy, Paul Casey, Nick Watney, Kyle Stanley and many more players on tour. The new range features an iconic blue head on the woods range and is certain to catch an eye on the golf course. The performance is stunning and we think once you've seen them you'll fall in love.

Ping G Series

PING have also just introduced their new range of woods and irons, called the PING G range, which replaces the G30 family. They have brought out three different drivers (Standard, Straight Flight Tec, and Low Spin Tec) and woods (Standard, Straight Flight Tec, and Stretch - which is more like a mini-driver type of shape) to cater for different levels of ability, so that every golfer can have a G series club in the bag.

Try Them Now!

Why not come have a look at both of these fantastic ranges and maybe give them a try in a free fitting session! Pop into Burstwick Country Golf, just 10 minutes from Hull, now!
