Where to take the Burstwick Pro Shop in 2017

Since the announcement of Nike removing hardware from their product line from 2017 we’ve been contemplating what direction to take our pro shop next. With many things to consider, the first thing we did was put out an online survey to the members at Burstwick.

I had in my head an idea of what I thought the results would be, but there were actually a couple of surprises in there. Overall I wasn’t too far from the mark, but it just goes to show what a bit of market research will do for you.

Introducing the next club manufacturer to be stocked at Burstwick: Callaway. Callaway was the leader of the hardware section of the survey and I’ve always like the idea of stocking Callaway (although never had the space until now) so this was a perfect fit.

I am meeting with the sales representitive in the next fortnight to have a look at the Callaway and Odyssey range, but I can’t put a date on when the first equipment will arrive yet, but I know I’m very excited, so watch this space!

The other two sections of the shop which we have yet to make a decision on yet are footwear and apparel.

As Nike Golf are still continuing with their footwear and apparel lines it makes the decision more difficult than the hardware as I like to try and stay loyal to my suppliers. However, I am seeing this whole situation as an opportunity for the club to maximise potential for the shop and also stock what our members would like to see. Going back to the survey that I put out, a few thoughts have been put in my mind about where to go, but I have decided not to make a decision just yet as we’re looking at spring/summer 2017. We are looking forward to meeting a few sales reps and gathering some more information before making a move.
