The 2026 Captain’s kick off the 2026 Season!
The 2026 Captains of Burstwick Country Golf got the new golfing season underway on Saturday 21st February with the annual Captains’ Drive-In, and it was great to see so many members out enjoying the day after what has felt like a very long winter.
Thanks to a huge effort from the greenkeeping team, the course was opened just in time following weeks of poor weather, giving everyone a welcome chance to get back out at last. The conditions held up well on the day and spirits were high as the season officially began.
Club Captain Steve Beaumont, Senior Captain Bryan Cobbold, and Junior Captain Charles Graham each stepped up to the tee to play their ceremonial opening shots - all absolutely flushed by the way! Unfortunately, Lady Captain Cathy Greenwood was unable to attend as she was away, but she will be holding a special Drive-In event for the ladies’ sectionin the coming weeks.
As part of the event, members took part in a Texas Scramble, which is always a fun and sociable format - a perfect way to ease everyone back into competitive golf. The afternoon rounded off with a buffet in the clubhouse, giving members plenty of time to catch up and enjoy each other’s company.
A nice moment to finish the day saw last year’s captain, Lee Sargeson, present Steve Beaumont with his Captain’s Blazer, bringing a fitting end to a successful and thoroughly enjoyable event.
