Burstwick Members win the top prize at one of Yorkshire’s Biggest Pro-Ams!
The Burstwick Country Golf Annual Pro-Am, proudly sponsored by Pro Sports Cars, took place last Friday and proved to be another resounding success. With 39 teams competing, the event showcased a strong field of professionals and amateurs alike, all vying for a portion of the £7,500 prize table. Our Pro-Am is now the 4th biggest in the Yorkshire PGA calendar!
Burstwick’s 15th Pro-Am, was the first of it’s kind to hold live hole-by-hole scoring for the Yorkshire PGA, and it was very well received by the teams. The mobile scoring and live leaderboard (which froze for every team after 15 holes so they didn’t know the results until the end) kept teams up to date on the performances around the course - it felt like a Tour event!
The standout performance of the day came from professional golfer James Freeman, who posted an impressive score of 68 (-2), securing the £1,200 top prize. Freeman’s round was marked by great ball control on challenging and breezy course.
The Pro-Am team event was equally competitive, but with one outstanding performance from the team of Burstwick members with professional Ben Schur: Tony Sims, Dale Almond and Debbie Munday who clinched victory with a combined score of 121 (-19) to win by 5 shots!

A special thank you also goes out to Andy and the team at the YPGA which ensure the event runs very smoothly, and lastly volunteers (particularly Sarah and Bob Leonard who have manned the halfway house for many years and do an amazing job), and staff whose efforts contributed to the smooth running and enjoyable atmosphere of the tournament.
With another memorable Pro-Am in the books, anticipation is already building for next year’s edition, promising even more thrilling golf and camaraderie.
