Farewell to the old Half-way House

It has been 18 years since we bought our first Half-way House, and in that time the old girl has seen many events, great and terrible weather, multiple coats of stain, and countless repairs - but it’s time for her to go.

Back in 2007 when we bought the half way house it cost around £3,000, and I don’t think we can say that was bad value at less than £200 per year!

We are delighted to announce that we will be erecting a brand new replacement which will be nearly twice the size of the original, but will be of much better quality, including EPDM rubber roof, UPVC windows and doors, and thicker, pressure treated log-lap.

The new Half-Way House will include seating inside, alongside better facilities for snacks and drinks. Keep an eye out as you’re playing golf at Burstwick to see how the project is progressing!

The one question we have been asked by members is whether it will be open every weekend - for the foreseeable future we have decided just to run the Half-way House on specifics events in the same way we do now, but by putting a much better quality building up this gives us scope in the future to expand offerings should the club wish to.
