The Club needs YOUR help to keep things running smoothly!

The club is extremely busy at the moment and for the benefit of all the members we need everyone to make sure they are doing these key things to keep things moving swiftly and helping us keep the course in good condition.

Repair TWO Pitch Marks on each Green

This is vital for every golfer! Even if your ball does not make a Pitch Mark, search the green to repair TWO others. Pitch marks weaken the grass and let disease take over, and also create a bumpy surface.

ALSO REPAIR THEM PROPERLY - WATCH THIS VIDEO

Most people don’t realise they are repairing them WRONG. Do not pull the grass back up as that snaps the roots and creates a dead patch, push in from the sides. Then flatten down with a putter.

Eliminate Slow Play

Number in Party 18 Hole Time 9 Hole Time (1,2, 12-18)
Two Ball 3 hours 1 hour 30 mins
Three Ball 3 hours 30 mins 1 hour 45 mins
Four Ball 4 hours 2 hours

These are the times you should be aiming to play a round of golf in. If you cannot achieve these times think about what you can do to speed up. Most people don’t realise that if they take off 10 seconds each per shot by compacting their pre-shot routine, they can save 12 minutes off a round!

ALWAYS keep an eye on the group behind, if they are frequently waiting then let them through or speed up your play.

Be prompt for your Tee Time

Please get to the golf club at least 10 minutes ahead of your tee time to ensure that you are able to tee off promptly. If you miss your tee time for whatever reason, please speak to a member of staff and they will try to slot you in where possible, but this does not guarantee that you will be able to play immediately.

Do not just go to the tee and muscle in!

Know the Rules

If you are unsure of any rules (for example out of bounds you MUST go and replay your shot under penalty, not drop where you think it cross the line!) speak to either Alan or the professionals and they will be able to help advise you on any rules you aren’t confident with. That’s what we’re here for!

Lots of golfers think they are automatically doing everything right, but sometimes they are not, and often unknowingly. Please take a minute to look at how you play and for the benefit of yourself and others check:

  • Do I repair two pitch marks on every green? If so do I repair them correctly or do I just pull the grass back up and effectively kill it?

  • Do I keep an eye on the group behind when playing? Do I keep an eye on the time we have been playing?

  • Am I sure of the rules or do I need advice?

Cancel your tee time if you aren't using it!

Please cancel you tee time if you do not need it, even if it’s only a few hours before, we have members desperate to play and those who aren’t using their tee times may be punished.
