Clock is fitting memorial for Dennis Jones

On Saturday we held a competition in memory of our beloved member Dennis Jones who tragically died in 2016. This is the second time we have run the competition, which was named by his friends and colleagues the “Flat Cap” event in homage to Dennis’ classy and distinct look.

We were originally meant to run this event on December 27, but due to exceptional weather the course was closed that day so the competition had to be postponed.

On the morning we unveiled the new clock on the first tee which was erected in Dennis’ memory and paid for by generous donations from his friends and colleagues. Namely, Hugh Rice Jewellers, Ian Blowers and Goldsmiths, who all put in good money which helped pay for the clock, along with several hundred pounds raised by members at Burstwick.

A huge thanks goes to Eddie Beadle for the steel work which James Thompson worked very hard on in his own time, and Ideal Electrical Solutions who volounteered to install the electrics free of charge. Without the help of these people the clock wouldn’t be there.
