Captain’s Charity Am-Am raises over £3,000 for MS Society

Saturday 18th July saw Burstwick Country Golf come alive with competition, camaraderie, and community spirit as Club Captain Steve Beaumont hosted the annual Captain’s Charity Open Am-Am.

The event proved to be a resounding success, bringing together members and guests for a fantastic day of golf—all in support of a cause close to the Captain's heart, the MS Society.

High Spirits on the Fairways

A impressive field of 28 teams took to the course, competing for top honors in the Am-Am format. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t quite playing ball on the day, but provided a solid challenge for all of those involved with a stiff, cool breeze. That didn’t dampen spirits though, expecially at the fantastic half way house provided by the Captain’s wife and daughter Josie and Darcey.

Beyond the main team event, players tested their skills (and precision) in several popular ancillary competitions throughout the day:

  • Putting Competition: Putting short-game nerve to the ultimate test before heading out to the course, ran by Vice-Captain Lee Carrick and his compadre Billy.

  • Straightest Drive: This was one of the toughest tee shots on the golf course, hole 2. Rewarding dead-eye accuracy off the tee rather than just pure distance.

  • Nearest the Pins: Challenging players to stick their iron shots close on Burstwick's par 3s.

The side challenges added plenty of banter and friendly rivalry to an already memorable day on the links.

Raising Vital Funds for the MS Society

Thanks to the incredible generosity of players, supporters, and sponsors, the event raised over £3,000 for the MS Society.

The Multiple Sclerosis Society provides essential research, support, and advocacy for people living with MS across the UK. Every pound raised during Saturday's event will directly help fund vital services and groundbreaking research.

Speaking after the event, Captain Steve Beaumont expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed to making the day such a huge milestone in his captaincy year.
