Jayden Bell shoots best score at Faldo Futures Junior Event

The fairways at Burstwick Country Golf were absolutely buzzing on Tuesday 7th April, as the next generation of golfing talent took over for the Faldo Futures Tournament. Part of Sir Nick Faldo’s massive push to find the stars of tomorrow, the day was a huge success, filled with some seriously impressive shots and a great atmosphere.

The event is all about giving kids aged 7 to 12 a taste of "pro" competition, and the youngsters didn't disappoint. Despite the pressure of trying to qualify for the regional finals, the vibe around the clubhouse was brilliant, with families cheering on the players as they tackled the course.

The talent on display was unreal for such a young age group. In the Boys 7-8 category, George Rowell walked away with the win after a rock-solid round of 41 (+6), while Ivy Whittaker showed everyone how it’s done by taking the top spot in the Girls 7-8 category.

As the kids got a bit older, the competition only got tighter. Home member Jayden Bell put in a massive shift to win the Boys 9-10 division, showing some great touch around the greens to shoot the best score of the day, an impressive 38 (+3). In the Girls 9-10 category, Isabelle Thornham played some lovely golf to secure her medal and a place in the next round.

The 11-12 age group saw some of the biggest hitters of the day. Sam Wilson dominated the Boys 11-12 category with some clinical play, while Alice Downing kept her cool under pressure to win the Girls 11-12 category.

It wasn't just about the winners, though. The whole day was a win for junior golf in the region. Burstwick did an amazing job hosting, and seeing so many kids out there with smiles on their faces—even after a missed putt—is what the sport is all about.

A massive well done to all the qualifiers! It’s going to be exciting to see how these young players get on in the regional finals. If Tuesday was anything to go by, the future of British golf is in very safe hands.
