Daley & Wilson cement their name in the history books

On Sunday 30th April Burstwick members Pat Daley and Steve Wilson did Burstwick proud and won The Wiles Cup Final at Hull Golf Club to cement their (and the club’s) name in the history books! The Wiles Cup is the Hull & District Golf Alliance annual matchplay tournament where each club in the Alliance submits two players (who play via a qualifier at their home club) to compete in a winter knockout which is in its 75th year and a well renowned, prestigious cup in the Hull area.

Pat and Steve faced a pair from Beverley, one of which was Rich Norton - a very experienced scratch golfer - so had their work cut out around the difficult Hull Golf Club. In the end Pat and Steve played some fantastic golf to fend off the Beverley duo and won the match 2 Up. Well done lads, you’ve done the club very proud!
