Congratulations to the Matchplay Final winners!
On Saturday we held our Matchplay Finals Day which consists of each of our summer Matchplay Tournaments having their finals played. The tournaments included this year were:
Scratch Final (36 holes): Danny Trafford vs Chris Spenceley
Men’s Final: Karl Jeffs vs Paul Warnecke
Greensomes Final: Gary Fincham & Karl Jeffs vs Darren Bamford and Mike Oliver (rescheduled)
Juniors’ Final: Ethan Matthews vs Tom Ward
Ladies’ Final: Sarah Leonard vs Beverley Sadler
Seniors’ Final: Steve Alger vs John Higgins
Seniors’ Team Final: Andy Steward & Stuart Kelman vs David Birkett & David Tanton
The finals were all played on Saturday afternoon with the scratch final being in the morning too (with it being over two rounds), and it was great to see all the players happy and raring to go!
The conditions were tough as the wind was up (as usual) which made it a good test for all the finalists. In the end the best players came through in some very tense matches!

Karl Jeffs won the Men’s 3&2
Darren Bamford & Mike Oliver won the Greensomes on the 2nd play-off hole
Tom Ward won the Junior 5&3
Bev Sadler won the Ladies 2&1
John Higgins won the Senior 2&1
Andy Steward & Stuart Kelman won the Seniors’ Pairs 4&3
Well done to all of the winners and commiserations to the other finalists whose day it unfortunately wasn’t to be. You all played brilliant golf and have done the club proud!
