As part of the expansion and growth of the Matt Daley Golf Academy at Burstwick, Matt has enlisted the help of a new assistant PGA Professional - Luke Bell.

Luke started out his coaching foray at Hoylake Golf Club in Liverpool, one of the most famous golf clubs in the UK and as you will know, an Open Championship venue. From there he moved to the role of full-time teaching professional at Rudding Park in Harrogate, where he worked hard coaching various different levels of golfer and gained lots of experience.

Luke’s coaching techniques and theories are all based upon academic research gained through his university studies. He also likes to use technology in his coaching to identify areas of improvement and to show that progression has been made.

Luke brings with him the MySwing 3D Motion Capture System, which is a 17-sensor system that are placed all over the body of the individual, producing a 3D avatar and values for biomechanical movement which unlocks a huge amount of teaching and swing diagnosis potential that the human eye cannot detect on its own.

Luke believes this is the best possible way to coach as it not only takes the guesswork out of what is happening in the golf swing but also improves the individual’s self-awareness of how their body is moving. He has seen amazing results when teaching with the system, not only for fellow professionals but also high handicaps and beginner golfers.

This then provides a completely new experience based upon improving movement patterns of the body, resulting in fewer corrective moves from the hands and wrists.

Matt Daley believes that having Luke as his assistant will bring a new dimension to the academy, and Luke will also be focusing on being a Custom Fit Specialist when our new second indoor golf studio is built in the coming months, so watch this space!

If you see Luke around the club don’t forget to say hi, introduce yourself and welcome him to Burstwick!
