Golf course back open after record rain in October

15th Green

The average rainfall for our region in October is 80mm over the course of the month, but this year we saw over 180mm fall onto the course in this time. Not the best start to the winter for Greenkeepers around the UK.

We’ve been hit with two large storms in the month, and weather you believe in Global Warming or not, we have definitely seen a shift in the weather over the past few years. Whether this is permanent or not remains to be seen but our winters certainly have been a great deal wetter than they were in the short-term past.

Fortunately, after 17 days of closures, we are now back open and doing our best to keep the course in as good condition as possible. Last weekend we heard lots of compliments about the course, particularly the greens which our members were raving about, especially given the circumstances with the weather.

It’s just nice to see people back out there playing some golf!
